Abysmal day - abysmal week

EAting at the workplace is going to do me in. And it's the cause of recent statistically significant weight gain.

Essentially today was a lesson in how not to eat smart through a day.

I started the day with a smoothie, per usual. And, indeed, I also brought my salad -- which is typical for me.

At arrival at the office, I found some sugar croissants sitting just outside of my desk. I started with 1/4 of it -- then the next 1/4 then the last half. I think I ate most of the 2nd one laying around as well. BAd times.

Went to Starbucks with the troops and ended up ordering a Starbucks soda (don't remember the brand name -- I think it's Italian). DAy is still salvagable at this point.

Mid-morning, went back to other room where fellow employees hang out -- ate a hershey's bar, followed by a handful of chocolate mints and hershey kisses. Day is worse, and borderline out of control. I think I go back for another round.

By 12noon or so, I decided it was time to eat my salad. I did. Shortly thereafter, a pizza order was placed. I kicked in for my share -- adn then ate ~3 pieces during lunch (after I'd already eaten a full bowl of salad). And the odd and true thing was: I wasn't really that hungry, and I didn't have any real business ordering and eating the pizza -- I just liked the idea of eating pizza because it sounded good.

~2 more rounds of chocolate kisses adn mints ensued (with some obligatory flirting from another office member -- which was an acceptable reason to do it).

Staff went home early and left me with most of the pizza. So by 430p or so I ate another ~3 pieces. The truth is, I wasn't that hungry, but I liked the idea of eating the pizza -- I wasn't eating due to hunger (or even a discernible need to eat) -- I was eating solely for the sake of eating, which seems like a pretty bad thing to my way of thinking.

So, I went and I swam afterward, but I cut it short, becuase my stomach felt so full.

I went to the grocery store afterward and stocked up on veggies -- mostly -- and other goodies. I drank a diet pepsi upon exit of the grocery store and then ate a 220 calorie chocolate balance bar. I had a second when I got home. I also popped popcorn, ate two chocolate jellos (~60 cals) and two chocolate (low cal ~60 cal) pudding pops.

Crazy day in the end. I think I have to admit it was a bit out of control. I know that had I simply stayed home, I wouldn't have ordered pizza, nor would I have eaten 500 calories in chocolate. one solution may be to surreptitiously get rid of the chocolate in the other room, and move the food behind me to out of sight/out of mind territory.

ok, now you got me laughing, not because you had a rough day but because of how it was written.

I'm all too familiar with that roller coaster. Bad food begets bad food. I pretty much have to abstain to keep things from getting out of control.
