Calories
I've been pretty consistent at maintaining ~2,000 calories per day and it seems to be paying hardy dividends. I weighed ~258 this morning, which is something like 10-14 pounds lost in the space of ~4 weeks. 2.5 to 3.5 pounds per week, which is higher than the suggested one pound a week, but definitely seems to be relatively healthy.
I now know, that though I was exercising regularly (and with suitable vigor) my daily caloric intake was probably ~4,000 calories per day. This was, undoubtedly, the cause of my extra 100 pounds I currently carry with me.
I think the photos and the blog also make it easy to keep track of things. BTW, my food diary isn't exact when it comes to calories. Typically I calculate calories by determining the total caloric value for the entire package, and then estimate how much of that total I will consume at this point in time: For any processed food this is a relatively easy exercise (two notable exceptions: Peanut butter and (light) mayo). I guess apples are about 80 calories, when if I did it by weight/size it would be more accurate, but I figure it's close enough. Besides, there's solid science that caloric values for a given food vary with some significance from person to person (the apple may give you 80 kCal worth of work, but only provide my body with 74 kCalories).
All in all, it's been a good couple of days and I hope to keep moving forward.
Sometimes it just shows up.
I can't explain it, but I'm definitely "in the [motivation] zone." It might be because I have seen some results and it's like a K-9 tasting blood: That's when they won't let go.
I began to think tonight that maybe I will try to plan a late triathlon season this time around. It'll be tricky with school though. I know the last tri in san diego is in ~October; and multiple tris, I believe, in September. I should probably register now (but need to double check my school loans).
