I went out on the bike this afternoon for a nice 22 mile ride. Went up and over a mountain, only to find my map wouldn't work because a road was closed. Forced to descend back down and around (which turned out to be fine). Checked with a park ranger who confirmed the road was closed. Went to the north end of so-called closed road and spoke with the security guard who said "sure, bikes can go through no problem, just no cars."
Grrr.
Actually it didn't matter that much, I now know where I can and can't ride and have a good faith excuse if I get in trouble for violating a "road closed" sign. No idea why it's closed by the way. . .
I seemed to climb up the hill into G Park better today than in the past. I think some of the recent mountain biking has added strength; and, perhaps my power-to-weight ratio has improved :-) (i.e., I've lost some weight).
PICTURES
After the ride I realized my patented method of studying would be interrupted because I no longer had a functional camera. (And there were a few decent shots I could have taken on my ride today) and, indeed, on my mountain bike ride on Friday.
Problem solved, ended up buying, via a $40 open box discount, a sony cybershot-u 2 mega-pixel camera that I really like so far. My cameras are primarily used for photos of my diet wipe boards, a few outdoorsy shots and taking pictures of items for my ebay auctions. [And since I also own a sony laptop, they are quite compatible; either hook it up via usb and it looks right to the camera, or pop out the memory stick and it goes right into sony's port. Seamless. Perfection at once.]
